Sexual abuse is a general term for any type of sexual activity inflicted on a child by someone with whom the child is acquainted. An aggravating factor is considered when the abuser occupies a position of trust. Experts on the subject estimate that more than 130,000 children a year are sexually abused in the United States.
Oregon has specific times in which a person can file a law suit based on child abuse. The law also requires that certain professionals must report abuse such as a doctor, nurse, teacher, social worker.
